Happy new year and belated birthday, blog! I really am worse at updating this thing than I thought I could ever be, but no news is usually good news. Actually there is news, and it is not bad news. It’s hardly news at all, really. Not that I necessarily always have to use this for news, but that does seem to be how I’m using it. I have added a new category to the downloads section, Miscellaneous Remixes, as a catch-all for other videogame remixes I have made, but are not specifically plentiful enough to warrant their own category. I have also added zip files of all my Daggerfall Remixes to the Daggerfall page.

Gah, I am not being very good about updating this thing with any sort of regularity am I? Anyhoo, I have started uploading a couple of remixes from TES Daggerfall, which has some fantastic music that general MIDI just doesn’t do justice. It is all listed on its own page.

After my first eye exam since I was probably seven or something, I have learned that I have mild astigmatism and am slightly nearsighted. I will be getting glasses forthwith. Will I like them? I hope. Will I have to change that picture up there? Maybe.

Also, all my Chrono Trigger remixes have been uploaded and each have their own page, listed under downloads. Perhaps I will consolidate them to one page at some point if things get too cluttered.

“Chrono Trigger” Orchestrations

Several years ago I decided that I would arrange several of my favourite tracks from the game Chrono Trigger into full orchestra pieces as an exercise in arrangement. For some reason or another, I never got around to sharing them but I think that now is as good a time as any. They will each have their own page in the downloads section, where I will preface each with a little blurb about their production and creation. Today I will post the first, which I call “The Ballad of Frog.”

All of the original compositions were written by Yasunori Mitsuda, I make no claim to them.

For this blog, I will be hosting my files through DivShare, which does limit the amount of data that I may transfer per month. However, back when I was paying for hosting (like a sucker) I never even came close to my current restriction. As a tradeoff, I suppose I lose an air of professionalism not hosting all my everything directly on dangoodale.com, but I think I can live with that. So unless things pick up exponentially for me, I’m sure this will work out just fine. Let me know if there are any problems, though.

This being my first blog post, and indeed first addition to the internet in quite the while, I think that I will write a bit of an introduction for myself. I am currently an independent composer and musician, writing primarily for orchestra. I am quite eclectic, having a folky-acoustic album and an electronica album and multitudinous metal compositions and and quite a lot of difficult-to-classify combinations thereof. This blog will share some of those with you.

I also like to create remixes, rearrangements and re-imaginings of classical/old-timey musics, as well as modern film and video game soundtracks. This blog aims to share those with you as well.

I also intend to write about various topics of interest to myself, hopefully to you too. I’ve never been much of a writer, and indeed have never maintained and internet web-log before, so this is all somewhat of a grand experiment for me.

This will now be my official internet location until I get dangoodale.com back up and running. Perhaps longer pending it’s success.
